Looking forward

Well I'm not sure how your bank holiday weekend is going, but here in Blackpool the weather is hit and miss. Its either blustery wind, torrential rain or the sun peeking through clouds. So instead of enjoying the final month of Summer, I am indoors catching up on Sky+ and looking at events that are coming to Blackpool in the next month. Next week Blackpool Illuminations are being switched and that's usually a signal for the nights to darken earlier and the schools to be back open (seriously, what happened to summer?).  The illuminations are only a ten minute walk from my home so I might take a walk along the promenade to enjoy the lights. Image courtesy of http://www.blackpool-illuminations.net/ I'm also going to see Adele at the Empress Ballroom in Blackpool on the 8th. I'm really excited about this and currently undecided on what to wear but we are planning to have a few cocktails, so thinking something cool and chic to wear. I'm also listening to her alb

Flowers were delivered throughout the day (on her official birthday) It was my gran's ninetieth birthday last week and we celebrated with a family tea party. She is still quite sprightly (although a bit deaf) and she baked all the cakes and cheesecakes for the do. Like the Queen she had her official birthday and then a second birthday (with a party) on the Sunday. The big day had been in planning for weeks and gran's excitement has been building up too.  I can't really explain in words how joyous her birthday was, she simply had a fabulous day and the whole family got involved.  I think I might have got a bit too involved as I managed to hurt my big toe dismantling the gazebo!  Note to self - do not dismantle a gazebo in open toe sandals while under the influence of lambrini wine (at 2 bottles for £5, I could not resist that bargain).

For reasons I can't explain, I am totally obsessed with thse gold boots from Irregular Choice.  I'm not even sure how I would style them but I'd give it a bloody good try!  How would you style them? Answers on a postcard please . . .

Little bit of this, little bit of that

I have been a lazy blogger, I have a week's leave and I'm at home catching up on errands and stuff I've not been able to do until now. I've also managed to retrieve some images that I've taken over the past few months but haven't been able to load onto my laptop, due to reasons unknown to my un-technical mind. So this post is really a little bit about a bit of that . . . Summer shoes have staying power Do you have summer sandals in your closet that you dig out year after year and they never date and are perfect for those sunny days?  I've got a few sandals that I've had for years that still are perfect to use. My friend Karen has these great sandals - a new purchase and a pair from last year, that will be her Summer heroes, perfect for her current holiday in Istanbul. Zara, Istanbul, 2010 Debenhams sale, 2011 One person's trash is another person's treasure A few years ago and you wouldn't have seen me shoppi

In my quest to find the perfect shoe for my 40th birthday, I've come across these lovely red Miu Miu shoes  on Net - a - Porter. Now these shoes would be a great replacement for my recently deceased red shoes and they definitely be an upgrade!

I have no will power!

I'm one of those people who can't resist looking in shops when there is either shoes to be tried on or there's closing down sign in a window.   So when I saw a shop full of gorgeous shoes with a BIG sign saying 'Closing Down Today' in Liverpool last weekend, then I had to investigate. For a quick and cheap fashion fix, this shop was perfect - no shoes under £40, a bright and colourful shop and loud music that gets you in the mood for a night out.  Don't get me wrong, for better quality shoes then you would need to go somewhere better on the high street.  But for £10, these shoes were a quick way to curb a need for retail therapy and were cheaper than two pints of lager and a bag of crisps in Blackpool!

How fabulous are these shoes , I can't get enough of them.  They have a Studio 54 feel about them and I'd quite happily pop down to Schuh and buy one in every colour they had.

Ode to a shoe

dented beyond repair I mentioned in my earlier post that I had a slight mishap with my favourite pair of shoes.  They weren't really expensive at £25 from Dorothy Perkins but they were my dependable pair of shoes that would go the distance whatever a night out held in store.  Sadly, they are in a state of disrepair and are heading for that great shoe store in the sky but I feel I should write about our short life together before I box them away.  So  here is an open letter to my poor shoes. Dear Shoes, Maybe it was the redness in you, brought the devil out in me. You never really stood a chance.  On the first day of our relationship, we went out for a couple of drinks and I let a little Irish guy wear you to dance in a karaoke bar.  This crime was only remembered a week later . . . damn those sambuca shots. You've always been the perfect partner-in-crime and I had so much fun wearing you, parting is such sweet sorrow. Alas, it was a Deacon Blue concert,

I've had some technical problems over the past week so haven't been able to blog but thanks to my lovely husband, its all systems go! Now, last weekend was the opportunity to go back to the 1990's with a trip to Liverpool to watch Deacon Blue . They were one of my favourite bands and the last time I saw them perform was in 1994 at the Empress Ballroom, Blackpool. So last Friday night, I spent the evening with nearly 9,000 other fans at the Liverpool Echo Arena . It was an amazing atmosphere and the band was fabulous, playing all their hits from Dignity to Queen of the New Year . My husband and I had a great night, perhaps too great as we indulged in some great food, lovely sangria and wine. I got a bit carried away dancing and ending up catching my heel in the stand and falling over! To say I am bruised is an understatement, I honestly think if I hadn't had a drink then I would have ended up with a broken limb. Sadly my lovely red shoes were the ultimate victim i
