Spam-a-lot

Has anyone noticed an increase in spam comments lately? I've got 19 comments to consider publishing, they are all from Bingo websites and they've actually taken the time to make relevant comments to the posts they are commenting on. Should I approve the comments despite the fact that I cannot stand bingo and have been the subject of bingo-rage when I called 'house' too late at a Mecca Bingo Hall!

Love your lungs

Image
Usually I'm blogging about shoes, cupcakes and fun stuff, but this subject is close to my heart after losing my dad to lung cancer five years ago. Recently my best friend's father died of lung cancer too (both he and my dad were young men of around 60) and the current campaign to raise awareness of the signs of lung cancer are significant to both mine and my friend's family. The diagnosis of my dad's lung cancer came just weeks after he suffered a cough and sore throat for over three weeks. I know that not every persistent cough means that you may have cancer but how many people self-diagnosis themselves and self-medicate from the local chemist? We all need to love our lungs and be aware that sometimes ignoring that annoying cough could be the difference between life and death. There are some amazing treatments out there for cancer and getting an early diagnosis is vital. Apologies for the heavy subject matter. xx

shoe of the week

Hopefully all are you are enjoying the Great British Summer (finally!).  With the sun comes the excuse to dig out the BBQ. Obviously wearing your best Louboutins or a pair of platform wedges isn't ideal, from a health and safety point of view, if you're in charge of cooking the bangers! So invest in some Toms , so your shoes, while practical, are as sparkling as your afternoon wine spritzer!

Early hours wedding

Still in good spirits at 2.30 in the morning! Last Thursday night I attended a wedding. The mother-in-law to be wore a hat, the champagne was on ice, the party poppers were prepared for popping and the bride and groom . . . were around 12,000 miles away. When I said last night, I actually meant at 1.30 am in the morning and the wedding took place in Australia! We 'attended' the wedding by Skype. Technology today amazes me, about 50 years ago Sylvia (newly crowned mother-in-law) emigrated with her family to Australia by ship which took around six weeks with around five port stops across the globe, keeping in touch was limited to telegrams and letters. This morning, we were able to watch live as her daughter and husband made their vows and we were able to join in the toast.   Despite the late hour we still managed to enjoy champagne and talk to the happy couple just minutes after the ceremony, such a wonderful moment for my friend and her family. Despite being thous

Shoe of the week

This week's shoe pays homage to West Ham who beat Blackpool in the race to join the premiership for the 2012/13 football season.   These Rupert Sanderson shoes - Claret - might not be practical for the terraces but they sure are stylish.

Random catch up

I have been a lazy blogger lately. So here's is a little bit of everything I've been up to. Pintrest, there's a button on the right hand side of my blog page that takes you to my boards. Its a great virtual way to create a noticeboard without needing wallspace, drawing pins and ripping out pages from magazines like a Blue Peter presenter. So I've created boards to get inspiration for a green dress I want for a wedding in September and of course, a board dedicated to my favourite subject - shoes With Sky plus its easy to skip from the advert breaks but this advert just keeps making me rewind the TV and enjoy. Its kind of sweet . . .

Shoe of the week

It had to be tangerine shoes this week in recognition of my town's football team making their premiership bid next week.  Blackpool Football Club and thousands of Blackpool fans will be making the trip to Wembley next weekend.  Not sure if the shoes would be ideal for walking up the steps to Wembley but they'd definitely be a stylish way join the 'Tangerine Army' on the big match day. The shoes are from Aldo available from ASOS.
